Questioning about lightining my hair?

I'm thinking about dying my hair a reddish purple but my hair right now is really dark brown and the dye won't show up. So I want to lighten my hair but I really don't want to bleach it. If I buy some hair dye that is a couple shades lighter than my real hair and I use that do you think it would lighten my hair up enough so I can put in the other color?

Questioning about lightining my hair?

It should do the trick ,just be real careful not to over process your hair because It can happen so easily! Make sure that the colors will coincide with each other-for instance you don't want to use any form of an ash color on processed hair as it will turn the hair a green tint! If you want to be safe just have it done by a stylist-not that expensive for the cost of damaging your hair forever!

Questioning about lightining my hair?

not sure I think you should get some kind of base lightener (not bleach) and then the other color but you shouldn't use a permanent dye a couple of shades lighter than yours then dye your hair again (permanently) that purple color you might end up w/out any (hair)

OK go to your local beauty supply store, and buy, Loreal Hi-lift For Dark Hair Only, And get a 30 volume developer with it. It will lighten your hair 3-4 shades without having to bleach, and be sure to follow the instructions on the inside of the box exactly, and good luck.
