Yesterday I dyed my hair for the first time ever. I used L'Oreal Ultra Light Golden Brown from the True Brunette line. My hair is naturally curly and dark brown with some hints of red in some areas. I also relaxed it over a year ago so I have only 3 or 4 inches left of relaxed hair. Long story short, I lightened it with this product but missed some spots in the roots, so my hair is now reddish chocolate/mahogany with some uneven roots that show. Is there any way to fix this? Which product should I use? I heard about the L'Oreal Toner but I don't have experience with this. I also heard about using demi-permanent hair color. Is there any way to lighten my hair without getting it flaming red or orange? I'm looking for a color like Shakira (the singer =) ) If any I just want to fix those roots. Help!

Stylist here. Unfortunately I don't think this sounds like an easy fix and I agree you should go to the salon. You made some common mistakes and for a pro it shouldn't be hard to fix, but too difficult to do to yourself.
Your mistake is that you applied the color to your whole head all at once and by yourself I assume. It's easy to miss spots when doing your own and sometimes you need more color than what's in one box to get hair really saturated with color for even results. Plus, when lightening hair you got to apply color to the hair nearest your scalp last since body heat helps the color process faster.
Without seeing your hair I'd say you'll need to go back in with color and lighten the spots that are darker and then put a color over all of it to tone it down and even out what's left of the spots. It would be too hard to do to yourself. See a pro.

Dont mess anymore with your hair..your after making a mistake and if you want your hair to be fixed properly go to a hairdressers and let them fix it, there the ones with experience!ok it might cost you more than a home dye but in the long run itl look better!

the best thing i can tell you to do is to go to a beauty salon and let them fix it.
with uneven color, it's very hard to fix on your own, and i wouldn't even attempt it. you just never know what color it would end up turning out.
