I have school tomm., and I want to curl my hair. My problem is, My curls only show up on the bottom

My curls only show up on bottom and not up on top. So basically the bottom half of my hair looks great, but the top half looks terrible because I can't curl it great. I have a Conair curler that works well, I'm just having difficulty with the top. I can't go out to buy any beauty products because its too late where I live. i have the same problem when i curl, just take smaller strands of hair when you use a curling iron so the heat gets to the top of your hair
